Cage hoist - the lifeline of mine transportation

Core definition: The cage elevator is a core vertical transportation equipment in the mining industry (mainly underground mines such as coal mines and metal mines). Essentially, it is a large lift elevator pulled by steel wire ropes and running along vertical or inclined tracks. But it is different from ordinary elevators:

Purpose: Mainly used for transporting miners' (personnel cages), materials (such as ores, equipment, support materials), and lifting shafts.

Operating environment: Extremely harsh. The underground space is narrow, with a large amount of dust, severe water seepage, possibly containing gas (flammable gas), high humidity, significant impact and vibration, and poor lighting.

Structure: The main body is a solid metal frame (cage body), equipped with a safety door (tank curtain/tank door). There may be multiple platforms inside the personnel cage. It is suspended on the steel wire rope by the sheave and driven up and down by a huge winch (the main body of the hoist).

Core components: cage body, hoisting wire rope, sheave, winch (hoist), derrick (shaft tower), depth indicator, safety braking system, anti-fall device (extremely crucial!) It is used for rope breakage protection, etc.

2. Working Principle: The hoist reels and releases the steel wire rope, driving the cage to move up and down in the shaft, thus facilitating the transportation of personnel and materials between the bottom of the shaft (underground) and the surface or between different sections of the shaft.

3. Why is it important?

o is the "throat" of mine production, directly affecting production efficiency and personnel safety.

The safety and reliability of the key link in personnel transportation are of vital importance.

o requires a continuous and reliable power supply (for lighting, communication, monitoring equipment, etc.), but traditional wired charging methods face huge challenges in mobile and harsh environments.
